Magic Recall Augustine From NBA D-League

Orlando, FL – The Orlando Magic have recalled forward James Augustine from the Anaheim Arsenal of the NBA Development League, General Manager Otis Smith announced today. Augustine was assigned to Anaheim on January 10.

Augustine played in eight games with Anaheim, averaging 10.1 ppg., 8.9 rpg., 1.0 apg. and 1.00 stlpg. in 27.1 minpg. He led the Arsenal in scoring once and in rebounding five times. On January 17 @ Tulsa, Augustine tallied 14 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. He then recorded team-highs of 26 points and 10 rebounds on January 19 @ Colorado. Augustine has not appeared in a game this season for the Magic. He has been on the Inactive List a total of 39 times and has registered four DNP-CDs.

Augustine (6’10”, 235, 2/27/84) was selected in the second round (41st overall) of the 2006 NBA Draft. He played four seasons at the University of Illinois, averaging 10.1 ppg., 7.5 rpg., 1.1 apg., 1.03 stlpg. and 1.01 blkpg. in 137 career games. Augustine became the first player in Illini history to record 1,000 career points and 1,000 career rebounds and is the 12th player in Big Ten history to accomplish the feat. He finished his collegiate career as Illinois’ all-time leader in rebounding (1,023) and field goal percentage (.617), ranked fourth in blocked shots (139) and 17th in scoring (1,383 points).
