Rashard Lewis Feeds Families In Need

Orlando, Fla.--Orlando Magic Forward Rashard Lewis partnered with international hunger relief organization Feed The Children to provide 400 Orlando families with boxes of food and personal care items from 3:30-5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19 at J.R. Smith Center (1723 Bruton Blvd.). All items provided to the families were made possible through the generosity of Lewis.

The Orlando Magic is a Feed The Children partner agency. The families that received boxes were pre-identified by Frontline Outreach, the Orlando Housing Authority and Richmond Heights Elementary. Each family received a 25-pound food box and a box of personal care items.

“This is something I have been wanting to do for a while, and couldn’t think of a better organization to work with than Feed The Children,” said Magic Forward Rashard Lewis. “To me there is no greater feeling than being able to give back to a community who has given so much to me in such a short period of time. I am thankful for being in this position—to make a difference in others’ lives.”

The Magic is also celebrating the one year anniversary of the Orlando Magic computer lab at the J.R. Smith Center, which is where the event was held. Orlando City Commissioner Samuel Ings was in attendance to celebrate the anniversary and assist with the event.
